There are three untruths commonly preached about Jesus worldwide. First, that he was God. Second, that he died on the cross for everyone's sin. Third, that he is going to return after his time on earth thousands of years ago. First: To prove he was not God let's look at one place in the Bible where it's commonly relied on to be preached is true - Jesus was God. John 10: 30 reads, Jesus said: "I and the Father are one."
After answering them as he did saying, "I and the Father are one," [John 10: 30], those who heard it picked up stones and gathered around him with the intent to kill him - for what they interpreted - was Jesus claiming himself to be God. [See: John 10: 31 - 33]. At that point facing his death by stoning for committing blasphemy, Jesus clarified to the crowd: He only claims himself to be, "the son of God. Sanctified and sent." [See: John 10: 36]. If we rely on these Bible scriptures as the authority and the words spoken by Jesus as the truth, they prove it is a lie being preached that he was God - the Creator of heaven and earth that Genesis 1: 2 says is God. Keep in mind: Genesis 1: 2 reads, "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."
While waiting for the return of his disciples a women who was living in the city nearby approached with the things - Jesus did not have - needed to draw water from the well. A conversation ensued between them that led to Jesus making a distinction between the drinking water he was asking her to give him from the well and the spiritual water of truth that was God's gift to him. [See: John 4: 7 - 13]. Their conversation eventually came to a point where the woman told Jesus, "Sir, I can see that you are a prophet." [See: John 4: 19]. Next, the subject changed from (water) to (worship). And about that, Jesus told her it will make no difference where she worshiped, because: She failed to know who she worshiped. Jesus told her, "God is a spirit." [John 4: 20 - 24]. This is consistent with Genesis 1: 2 in the Bible that says God is a spirit. Second: To prove Jesus did not die on the Cross to save the world from sin let's take a look at the (word) definition for that. And next, a look at what the Bible says was his reason to be crucified and die on the Cross.
The next day, the town's elders, chief priest, and their scribes put Jesus on trial for blasphemy and found him guilty. [Luke 22: 70 - 71]. Imposing a death sentence on him was up to a man in Jerusalem under Caesar's command named "Pilate." So, they took Jesus to him. But after questioning Jesus, Pilate found him innocent of the offense the people accused him of. [Luke 23: 1 - 4]. Yet, they persisted telling Pilate Jesus had stirred up trouble in Galilee. So he took Jesus to a man named Herod in Jerusalem who had Caesar's jurisdiction over Galilee. [Luke 23: 5 - 7]. Herod questioned Jesus. But he remained silent. So Herod mocked him and returned Jesus to Pilate's custody. [Luke 23: 8 - 11]. These things happened during a 'passover' feast and the custom for one prisoner to be released back to the people. Accordingly, it was Pilate's desire to release Jesus because he nor Herod had found him guilty of committing any offense. But the desire of the people and priests overwhelmed Pilate for a man named Barabbas to be released and Jesus to serve his crucifixion sentence. [Luke 23: 13 - 25]. So, Jesus was taken to a place called Calvary and crucified. [Luke 23: 33]. This is proof Jesus did not sacraficed himself on the Cross - shed his blood - to save the world from sin. Nonetheless, it could be argued by some that John (known as the Baptist) said, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." [John 1: 29]. However, Jesus said this: "Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of Hell?" [Matthew 23: 33]. And again using a parable about a King, said this: "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels..." [Matthew 25: 41]. This clarifies: Even if it is true John the Baptist said, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world," Jesus confessed there will be disbelievers that do evil wicked things who will die in sin and suffer damnation in hell. Therefore, what the Bible records John saying is the 'perception' he had of Jesus. The way he visualized and thought of him. Finally, the last thing that could be argued by ministers about Jesus sheding his blood to save the world from sin is that the Bible says he took a cup of wine and told his disciples: "Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." [Matthew 26: 27 - 28]. These were not words he spoke to his disciples about his crucifixion. They formed a parable instead that meant: (1) The gospel Jesus taught his disciples to preach was his God- sent "Spiritual Blood" being shed. Which created a new testament for the existing generation of that time; (2) The wine in the cup represented that God-sent "Spiritual Blood" being poured into a cup of committement at the dinner table and "drank" by his disciples as wine; and (3) By his spiritual blood being in them his gosple would continue and turn many away from sin for future generations to come. Third: Jesus said he would rise again three days after his crucifixion and dwell among his disciples for a little while.
And he said: "Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more..." [John 14: 19]. Jesus explains here that his return after his crucifixion death will be for a little while to prove he had risen. [Luke 24: 38]. When Jesus had done that, Thomas (one of his disciples who had not seen him), disbelieved until he saw Jesus and touched his wounds. [John 20: 24 - 29]. Afterwards his spirit made its final departure from his body. [Luke 24: 51]. The Bible records him ascending up into the clouds because Jesus (on his death bed) told his disciples to use that as a metaphor. [John 20: 15 - 17]. The truth is his body was buried in a secret place safe from grave robbers. This is true based on the fact Jesus told his disciples: "For ye have the poor always with you, but me ye have not always. For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial." [Matthew 26: 11 - 12]. These scriptures prove Jesus' return was not about his body leaving the earth going to Heaven and returning to earth again in the flesh thousands of years later as he was a man before.
